Loft Conversions we offer
We can really transform any rood space, but the ones we typically completed for our clients are the four major types, namely:
Velux (Roof Light) – the original shape of an attic is not changed at all with this type of conversion and is useful in homes with high roofs with ample head height. A Velux requires the minimum amount of changes which helps in keeping costs down.
Dormers – there are several different types of Dormers, all of which re-shape a roof to increase internal space and height, with most of them being positioned on the rear or side of a roof. However, depending on planning permission (we will obtain this for you if required), more picturesque Dormers can be positioned to face the front.
Hip to Gable – with this type of dormer, the hip of the existing roof is extended into a gable end, increasing roof space and enabling a bigger rear dormer to be constructed, thus enlarging the interior. Hip to gable conversions, although they can be used in any house with a hipped roof, are extremely popular in old-style semi-detached homes, since the new stairs go above existing stairs and result in the minimum amount of space being lost in the original living area.
Mansard – similar to the flat roof dormer, the main difference with a Mansard is the whole roof shape is converted with a front that slopes at around 70 degrees. It is a type of build that is used primarily in central London but we are seeing it more and more in Manchester. Mansard windows look just like small dormers, making this design extremely pleasing to the eye. Planning permissions is highly likely but we will take care of this for you.
